Holme Grove Solomon awarded "UK Elite" at Annual Trakehners UK Grading and Show 2010
The 25th Anniversary of the Trakehners UK contract with
Germany was held at The College Equestrian Centre, Keysoe Bedford on Saturday
4th and Sunday 5th September 2010.
A big thank you must go to the Trakehners UK show organizors with special
mention to Nicky Nash, Victoria von Wachter, Sian Reade and Julie Keatinge.
It was a good weekend with a great atmosphere. The grading entries
were good with although it would have been nice to see more showing entries.
Come on Trakehner owners come and support your annual breed show in 2011.
There were also strong entries for the affiliated dressage classes that were
running on the Sunday.
The most important and exciting achievement for Holme Trakehners over the weekend was the awarding of the UK Elite Title on Holme Grove Solomon. This is the first time this has ever been awarded to a stallion in the UK and is the highest accolade a Trakehner Stallion can get and is awarded due to their lifetime achievements including progeny performance. The award was received by Solomon’s breeder Julia Charlton (my sister) and his owner Barbara Watkiss (my mother on behalf of Holme Grove Farm) and of course HG Solomon himself looking sprightly at the age of 24 and enjoying being in the limelight again! . This UK Elite award has also been made posthumously to Fleetwater Opposition and was received by his breeder Louise King. There were other important presentations made on the Saturday evening including the Young Rider Awards sponsored by Woodcroft Stud, a thank you to David Clark for his years of service to the TBF and a presentation to honour 50 years of breeding Trakehners by the Lorch Family and Muschamp Stud which was received by Janet Scollay-Lorch who was also one of the judges for the weekend.
German Guest Judges were a father and son team of Herr Jurgen Hanke and Herr Björn Hanke who officiated over the Mare Grading and Showing classes. The world Trakehner authority Herr Erhard Schulte judged the Mare Performance Test and the Riding Horse Classes together with Ride Judge Owen Moore. The British Judges were Paul Attew, Terry Hyde and Janet Scollay-Lorch.

Holme Park Sunita (Holme Grove Prokofiev/Holme Park Sundowner) – with Potential Premium Marks – she must now do a ridden mare performance test in order to fully confirm the Premium status.

There were 22 mares entered for the Grading this year and only 3 Potential premium mares. Our congratulations go to the overall Mare Grading Champion Hollywood Dream (Insterburg/PS Honey-Girl owned by Tabitha Perry)
Holme Park Kashmir who was champion of the of the grading last year, was reserve champion of her Mare Performance Test scoring 7.45 ridden by her owner Emma Partridge. This performance test now confirms her as a full premium premium mare.

· Holme Park Kalibre (HG Solomon/HP Kremona – owned and ridden by Natalie Banks) (Full brother to Holme Park Krug) - 1st 6 yrs and over Riding horse class and Champion Riding Horse 2010
· Holme Park Lucy (HP Krug/ SPS HP Liaison – owned by Claire Moore and ridden by Tanja Davis) (Full sister to Holme Park Legend) - 1st 3 - 5 yo Riding Horse Class and Reserve Champion Riding Horse
Holme Park E2 (HP Krug / PM HP Elektra owned by Pat Marlin) 1st 2 year old filly or gelding.
Holme Park Sunita (HG Prokofiev/HP Sundowner ) 1st 3 yo Filly or Gelding and Reserve Champion Youngstock
· Holme Park Vasanti (HP Krug/ Elite Mare HP Vabanque - owned by Victoria Gill) 1st 3 -5 yo Broodmare and Reserve Champion Mare 2010
· Walkers Syke Vienna (HG Prokofiev/HP Vee – owned by Virginia Stewart) 1st Filly born before 12th May 10 and Champion Foal and Champion Independent Breeder. This is a new award to the highest placed horse in the show bred by a small breeder with only 1 or 2 mares.
