Assistant Stud Groom at Holme Grove Farm, Biggleswade, Beds

We have a live in or out vacancy for an Assistant Stud Groom from March 2008

Duties include:

  • Feeding and Mucking out

  • Assist with care of mares, foals and youngsters

  • Assisting with Foaling down mares (training will be given)

  • Stallion handling (training will be given)

  • tractor driving to clean paddocks (training will be given)

  • Own transport essential

  • 6 day week 8am - 5pm with 1 hour for lunch

  • May sometimes do night foal watch if required

  • Would consider part time shorter hours for live out person

  • Good rider able to assist with backing and riding young horses.

Sorry no pets or own horses

Live in luxury shared accommodation with own room . (small rent charged)

Salary range:  negotiable (depending on experience )

 This is a great opportunity to work with one of Europe's leading herds of Trakehner Horses and gain a lot of hands on stud experience and to work with some wonderful youngsters.  

We are not necessarily looking for qualifications - more important to have good practical experience and a love of working with horses.  You must be a cheerful person who is happy to work as part of a team.  You will have the opportunity to receive training and experience in all aspects of Stud work including AI and natural covering as well as how to bring on wonderful young Trakehner horses.
