Lotus and Amber (16) went to her first unaffiliated dressage last night and won with 69% and lovely comments from the judge. It was a new venue for her but she settled into her work beautifully and did us all proud. I'm very proud of my girls

Hi Susan

Firstly, apologies for not getting in touch sooner.....busy stud to run and all that!!

Keep meaning to give you an update on Lotus. Her baby by our Premium arab stallion Djammal is now two years old and a complete stunner. We have big hopes for his competitive career.

Lotus was rebacked last Autumn. Amber and I tacked her up one day, lunged her and sat on her. Walk, trot and canter on both reins as though she'd been doing it for years. An absolute star.

We've been training with a professional trainer and BD List 1 judge since Feb and hope to start competing unaffiliated really soon. Lotus has her own opinion about certain things but as long as we don't get into an argument we can normally win her over She's turning into a real beauty now that she's muscling up and I love her to pieces. She is such a people person! This dressage business is all new to me so I just hope I can do her justice when we get into the ring. We'll just take it slowly (for both of us) this year and see where we get. After that who knows??!!

We'll be at the open day next weekend and look forward to seeing all of those lovely horses.

Hi Susan

Just a quick note to let you know that our beautiful Lotus had a superb bay colt on Sunday. Our first ever part bred Arabian and what a foal! She was five days overdue and managed to slip him out whilst we had gone for breakfast in the morning! Lotus absolutely adores him, as we thought she would with her temperament. He really is a lovely boy with huge eyes and lovely long neck, good legs and deep body. We're absolutely over the moon and our 13 year old daughter Amber is convinced this is her future Badminton horse!!

I will send a picture as soon as I can but in the meantime thank you once again for being so patient whilst we chose Lotus amongst all of those other lovely girls last year. She is everything we could have wished for and more. Once the foal is weaned she will be onto the next phase and back into work heading for some dressage to begin with hopefully.

We've nicknamed him 'mummy's boy' as he sticks to her like glue despite not being afraid of us humans. Lotus absolutely adores him....almost as much as food!!
